I just concluded a remake of my personal website after almost 3 years, so I decided to document how it's evolved over the years.

V1

I built the first version of my website 8 years ago. Very early career. (fun-fact, It was built using vuejs).

V2

In 2022, I decided to document my life a bit more. Unforunately, my website was a static one, so I needed to find some blogging software. I wasn't a big fan of wordpress' clunkiness, so I was searching for something way simpler to hold. Then, I came across chidiwilliams' website at the time and it was the perfect fit. It was essentially a minimalistic static site, with a decent blogging interface which was powered by Hugo. So I forked his repository, made some customizations, and that's how I got to version 2.

V3

Fast forward May 2025, I decided to repaint my website. Except this time, I wanted to be more intentional, so I went into figma and tried to make up some designs just for inspiration. After some days of exploration, I decided to start building. 90% of this website was built by the cursor agent + tab model.

V4

On mobile, it looked quite good. But on desktop, it felt very crowded. Clearly, I'm not a good designer. Anyway, I set out to find new inspiration for the upcoming re-write and that's how I landed on Erick Zhang's website. I instantly fell in-love with his header.

Using that as inspiration, I started building the next version of my website. I essentially merged his header design with other components from v3, and ended up with this beauty. I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

Going forward

As with all things, it's going to evolve. Infact, I already plan on adding a "shelf" page, where I'm going to display books, albums, playlists, etc that really resonate with me.

Thanks for reading this. Goodbye
